{"id":1001,"date":"2014-03-08T21:35:37","date_gmt":"2014-03-08T21:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annetarsia.com\/?p=1001"},"modified":"2014-04-29T15:42:11","modified_gmt":"2014-04-29T15:42:11","slug":"favorite-things-at-stitches-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/2014\/03\/favorite-things-at-stitches-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Favorite things at Stitches Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I teach an all-day class, there is a long lunch break so that we can eat in a leisurely manner&#8230;.ha!\u00a0 Just kidding.\u00a0 We all go to the market and shop.\u00a0 When class starts again, one of my favorite things is to see what people bought over lunch. It&#8217;s Show and Tell time!<\/p>\n<p>At Stitches West, the <a title=\"Slipped stitch studio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.slippedstitchstudios.com\/\">Slipped Stitch Studio<\/a> booth was busy all weekend.\u00a0 Many people (including me) stocked up on bags to put our various projects in.\u00a0 They come in all shapes and sizes, custom fabrics, and knitters can&#8217;t get enough of them.\u00a0 I find it interesting that when knitters talk about\u00a0 SSS bags, the word &#8220;quality&#8221; always pops up in the first few sentences.\u00a0 Sure, they are cute and handy, but it is the quality of the fabric, stitching and details that prompt repeat buying&#8230; and buying.\u00a0 Stock went fast, and as I didn&#8217;t get there until Saturday, all of the Minion fabric was gone, and there wasn&#8217;t a full set of anything left.\u00a0 But I did grab this cute bag &#8211; the squirrels and trees remind me of Sunriver.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-34-e1394311227428.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-999\" alt=\"photo 3(4)\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-34-e1394311227428-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-34-e1394311227428-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-34-e1394311227428-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a> People who don&#8217;t knit don&#8217;t understand why we need fancy bags for all of our projects, but it makes it so easy to find things. I know that my pi shawl WIP is in the red bag with white sheep, for instance. Saves distress over losing a project (this is IMPORTANT, people!)<\/p>\n<p>I had severe bag envy over a student who had SSS bags with Firefly sayings all over it.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-23-e1394313230218.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1004\" alt=\"photo 2(3)\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-23-e1394313230218-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-23-e1394313230218-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-23-e1394313230218-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a> I begged Laura (owner and Goddess of SSS) to bring this one back.\u00a0 I NEED a Firefly bag! So I stopped at the Lion Brand booth and picked up some sock yarn and some stainless steel, to knit this cute vest from Knitters #112.\u00a0 Then I got home and couldn&#8217;t find my magazine ( I know it is here somewhere.\u00a0 My library is getting out of control) so I bought a copy from Zinio and printed it out.\u00a0 Crisis averted.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-21-e1394311268290.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-998\" alt=\"photo 2(1)\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-21-e1394311268290-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-21-e1394311268290-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-21-e1394311268290-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a> Not that I will be casting it on, anytime soon, but I like to keep patterns and yarn together, to be prepared.\u00a0 It&#8217;s going to be fun to knit, I think.<\/p>\n<p>Amy, at <a title=\"Canon Hand Dyes\" href=\"https:\/\/www.etsy.com\/shop\/theamyleeshow\">Canon Hand Dyes<\/a>, had a Downtown Abbey colorway kit with my name on it.\u00a0 Well, that is my story and I am sticking to it.\u00a0 This has Annetarsia possibilities all over it, and I had to have it.\u00a0 Every color is named for a character from the series.<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-11-e1394311173309.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-997\" alt=\"photo 1(1)\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-11-e1394311173309-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Amy wandered over with me to the <a title=\"Plucky Knitter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thepluckyknitter.com\/\">Plucky Knitter<\/a> booth, and we checked out the small bin of yarn marked down.\u00a0 Amy, who is obviously a Yarn Whisperer, reached in and said, this is a skein of Bella.\u00a0 Bella has cashmere in it and NEVER goes on sale.\u00a0 There were actually 2 of them, and Amy (remember that she is a master hand dyer) felt she could live without it, and let me nab them.\u00a0 Of course, I can&#8217;t stay with a single color, so found another skein to go with it, for full price.\u00a0 Still, what a deal!\u00a0 happy dance.<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-45-e1394311299940.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1000\" alt=\"photo 4(5)\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-45-e1394311299940-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-45-e1394311299940-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo-45-e1394311299940-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Students told me about the little bags at <a title=\"Knitters brewing company\" href=\"http:\/\/www.knittersbrewing.com\/\">Knitters Brewing Company<\/a> with the pouches on the side, for yarn.\u00a0 They were a steal at $5.\u00a0 I went to get one, and saw the kits for Drinking mitts, and got that kit, too.<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo1-e1394313881768.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1007\" alt=\"photo(1)\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo1-e1394313881768-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo1-e1394313881768-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/photo1-e1394313881768-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Such yarny goodness, and it is such a kick to trade stories with the students about market adventures.\u00a0 It is so huge that you really can&#8217;t take it all in, so sharing the experiences of other knitters is really one of my favorite things.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I teach an all-day class, there is a long lunch break so that we can eat in a leisurely manner&#8230;.ha!\u00a0 Just kidding.\u00a0 We all go to the market and shop.\u00a0 When class starts again, one of my favorite things is to see what people bought over lunch.
