{"id":1749,"date":"2014-08-11T21:42:15","date_gmt":"2014-08-11T21:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annetarsia.com\/?p=1749"},"modified":"2014-08-11T21:45:25","modified_gmt":"2014-08-11T21:45:25","slug":"stitches-midwest-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/2014\/08\/stitches-midwest-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Stitches Midwest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stitches Midwest 2014 will live in my memory for a long time.\u00a0 This was the first event where I was a published author and I was teaching 5 new classes that I have been working on for months.\u00a0 It was a busy, hectic few days, but everything went beautifully.\u00a0 I have many people to thank for that.\u00a0 First, I want to thank the students and participants at Stitches.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t have photos of them, because I was too busy living the dream to capture it.\u00a0 (I&#8217;m going to have to do better in the future.\u00a0 Next time, in class, someone remind me to take a picture!) You were all beautiful, smart, funny, kind, and persistent.\u00a0 Learning something can be confusing, but everyone was successful, and we all had a great time.\u00a0 I could not have wished for more.<\/p>\n<p>Between classes, I spent time in the market.\u00a0 I caught up with friends and vendors, and spent as much time as I could with Yarn Barn of Kansas, where &#8220;Annetarsia Knits&#8221; was on sale at Stitches Market for the very first time.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1742\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1742\" style=\"width: 228px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_1828.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1742\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_1828-228x300.jpg\" alt=\"Table featuring books by teachers at Stitches. This was a big moment for me.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Yarn Barn has everything &#8211; yarn, needles, DVD&#8217;s and books.\u00a0 And, they take selection seriously.\u00a0 If you want the widest selection possible of published knitting\/crochet\/weaving\/spinning material, Yarn Barn of Kansas is the place to go.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always looked forward to browsing their tables and picking up something new and interesting.\u00a0 But this year, after shipping and schlepping my books all over the place, I had a new appreciation for the difficult job they have.\u00a0 Books are heavy, and lots of books are really heavy.\u00a0 Sometimes they will only bring a few of a title, and you can&#8217;t blame them, because whatever doesn&#8217;t sell has to be shipped back home, and there is only so much space to put everything.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1744\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1744\" style=\"width: 296px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_1841.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1744\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_1841-296x300.jpg\" alt=\"Left to right: Some of the Yarn Barn of Kansas team: Mary Margaret (photo-bomb!), Dianne, Susan - with Anne\" width=\"296\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1744\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Left to right: Some of the Yarn Barn of Kansas team: Mary Margaret (photo-bomb!), Dianne, Susan &#8211; with Anne<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I was confident that more than a few people would want to buy my book, so I contacted Yarn Barn and asked if they would please take some extra copies of &#8220;Annetarsia Knits&#8221;.\u00a0 They did, and then I felt responsible.\u00a0 But it all turned out OK, because they sold a lot of books and I signed a great deal of them.\u00a0 At the end of the first day, I asked a helper if my books were selling and she said, &#8220;Oh yes, I&#8217;ve been writing it up all day.\u00a0 I think you should have given it a shorter title!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1751\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1751\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_1835.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1751\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/IMG_1835-300x194.jpg\" alt=\"Jennifer of Holiday Yarns, on the right, joined by her mother and daughter.
