Last weekend we traveled to a family wedding. 4 days with lots of driving and visiting equals primo knitting time.\u00a0 The sweater I’ve been working on is almost finished, and too big to carry around, and I didn’t want to work on projects I’m working on for classes.\u00a0 I wanted to knit something personal, for me, that I could finish on the trip so that when I got back I could jump into “Annetarsia” knitting with a refreshed frame of mind.<\/p>\n

During the Rose City Yarn Crawl, I bought the yarn and pattern for “Cairdeas” at For Yarn’s sake. I sensed that this was the perfect project for my purpose.\u00a0 I wound the yarn, packed the needles, and cast on during the flight out of town.\u00a0 I happily knit over the next few days, visiting with family, driving to Disneyland, trying to convince Tigger to knit on the shawl (couldn’t do it, but I got a hug), and flying home.\u00a0 When I got to the place to start the edging, I still had quite a bit of yarn left and didn’t want to stop knitting, because it was so much fun.\u00a0 So, I added an extra set of stripes.\u00a0 I used up almost all of Color A, and during the edging I ran out of color B about 80% of the way through. Some Shibui Sock from my stash matched perfectly, so I didn’t miss a beat.\u00a0 Used up all of my yarn and some stash, too!\u00a0 I am very happy with this shawl, and plan to wear it this week.\u00a0 I would definitely knit it again.\u00a0 It will always remind me of Lindsay and Jon’s wedding, and the family visit.<\/p>\n
