One of my favorite patterns in “Annetarsia Knits” is the Rose City Hat.\u00a0 I have knit several of them, and for a quick knit it packs a lot of visual punch.\u00a0 After I had the pattern thoroughly memorized, I decided to mix it up and use different yarn and stitch patterns.\u00a0 The result is another quick, easy knit (because that is what I do, after all) and I love the resulting hat.<\/p>\n

Being related to the Rose City Hat, I named it “Stumptown Slouch”<\/a>.\u00a0 Stumptown is another nickname for Portland, stemming from it’s early history.\u00a0 From Wikipedia – “In the mid-19th century, the city’s growth led residents to clear a lot of land quickly, but the tree stumps were not immediately removed; in some areas, there were so many that people used to jump from stump to stump to avoid the muddy, unpaved roads”.\u00a0 Thankfully, those days are over, but this is a common and affectionate nickname for our city.<\/p>\n

This hat is my go-to for casual wear, as it isn’t too warm to wear indoors, courtesy of the lace panels.
