This has been a difficult few months for me, as I fight to keep up with everything I need to do at work and home, and try not to be distracted by the US election histrionics.\u00a0 Knitting has been my drug of choice.\u00a0 I’ve been working on one project at a time, and as soon as I finish one, I have another on the needles immediately.\u00a0 I carry my knitting everywhere with me, although I only have the chance to work on it in the evenings, before bedtime.\u00a0 I know it’s dumb to keep carrying it around, but I need my project to be there, just in case (of what, I can’t explain!)<\/p>\n

I’ve finished 4 shawls in quick succession.\u00a0 Peacock Shawl (Sivia Harding)<\/a>, Rock the Kasbah (Cindy Garland)<\/a>, Light and Up (Caroline Wiens)<\/a>, Exploration Station (Stephen West)<\/a>.\u00a0 I still have a few more shawls in the queue, but this is getting ridiculous, so now I am casting on a sweater, Messaline (Bristol Ivy)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My stash of projects to knit has been building up for the past few years, as I concentrated on designing, writing, and publishing “Annetarsia Knits”.\u00a0 So, having this blitz of knitting other people’s patterns has been extremely enjoyable.\u00a0 I feel a bit guilty about not creating new Annetarsia patterns, but there are several out there besides the ones in the book – the “Sassy” <\/a>sweater, “Isoceles tunic”<\/a>\u00a0 and “Stumptown Slouch” <\/a>being the most recently added to my Ravelry store.\u00a0 And hey, it is almost time to knit some new Argyle ornaments<\/a> for the tree!\u00a0 So I am indulging myself in a marathon of supporting other designers and knitting up the pretty yarn that I have been buying in the past year.<\/p>\n

I know that I am not alone in finding that grounding myself in my craft keeps me settled in a crazy world.\u00a0 Thank goodness for our fiber crafts!<\/p>\n
