The Vermont Fall Retreat took place at the Trapp Family Lodge<\/a>, in Stowe, VT.\u00a0 Yes, it is owned and operated by the von Trapp family of “Sound of Music” fame, and we spent lots of time checking out framed memorabilia that lined the walls. I learned a lot about the family’s true story and came away with great admiration for them and the lives that they have built.\u00a0 The lodge is a spectacular place to stay, with lots of cozy nooks, views of the mountains from most windows, and really, really, great food.\u00a0 I learned a lot about maple syrup, too, and now I want to put it on everything, just as they do in Vermont.\u00a0 It was a wonderful place to teach, learn and visit and none of us wanted to leave at the end of the weekend.<\/p>\n

Trapp Family Lodge is a wonderful place with lots of cozy spots to knit and visit. The snow was a bonus.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The retreat was limited to a couple dozen knitters, and the emphasis was on learning in a relaxed atmosphere.\u00a0 We had lots of breaks and time to visit with each other.\u00a0 It was a lot of fun.\u00a0 Knitting retreats bring together people from a wide variety of places, occupations, personal history and backgrounds, with love for fiber arts in common.\u00a0 It is a wonderful way to meet people and get to know them.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth wound her yarn into small circles to arrange them for knitting. She will knit with the yarn as strands instead of butterflies, as they are short enough to pull through tangles easily.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
