The Pussy Hat Project<\/a> was conceived by Kat Coyle, \u00a0as a way for crafters to actively create a unifying symbol as well as a useful object to wear during Women’s marches happening all over the country on the weekend of Inauguation. \u00a0The project has grown significantly and taken on a life of its own, and there are many patterns on Ravelry. \u00a0The link above is to Kat’s original site, with a pattern, mission statement, and all of the info you need to get going. \u00a0I have knit 6 hats, so far, and plan to give away as many as I can when I go to the march. I used worsted and bulky yarn from my stash, and bought more at Michael’s – bulky acrylic that knits up fast and will wear well.<\/p>\n

Sure, they look sort of stupid, and you may not be a fan of pink. \u00a0But they are easy and quick to make, and will be easy to spot in a crowd. \u00a0Big masses of similar things garner attention and help us to unify. \u00a0Silly pink hats are fun, not scary, and will have a certain strength in numbers without being threatening to anyone. \u00a0Personally, I think it is brilliant. \u00a0Hats ON, to Kat and her great idea. \u00a0There is still time to knit, crochet or sew hats, which have no shaping or tricky bits.<\/p>\n

There has been lots of media attention with this, and crafters are having social impact. \u00a0We can make a difference!<\/p>\n
