{"id":3950,"date":"2020-06-27T16:49:15","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T16:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annetarsia.com\/?p=3950"},"modified":"2020-06-25T17:15:00","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T17:15:00","slug":"kitty-couch-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/2020\/06\/kitty-couch-adventure\/","title":{"rendered":"Kitty Couch adventure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago, I saw a post from Mary Mooney with a photo of the &#8220;Kitty Couch&#8221; pattern, available at Annie&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/anniescatalog.com\">Attic.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Designed by Candy Clayton, the pattern contains 3 different couches that are just the right size for a cat.\u00a0 They are so adorable that it was pretty easy for Bill to talk me into making one.\u00a0 I have a big box of Brown Sheep wool that I have been using in the classes that I probably won&#8217;t be teaching anymore, so it was pretty easy for me to get started.<\/p>\n<p>I was surprised to learn how big a project this actually is.\u00a0 The &#8220;Blue couch&#8221; is the design I started with, because it looked the least complicated.\u00a0 The finished couch is 21 in. wide, 14 in. deep, and the back is 7 in. high.\u00a0 There were 12 pieces to crochet, and then assemble into the couch.\u00a0 Then, 3 pillows with fronts and backs to crochet.\u00a0 This requires a LOT of yarn, so I knew I would have to use several colors, as I didn&#8217;t have enough of one color to crochet the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p>Mostly, it was pretty easy crochet, after I got into the rhythm of the pattern.\u00a0 But it took a long time to get all of the pieces made, and I really wasn&#8217;t sure that this was going to work, that the pieces would fit together properly.\u00a0 So many pieces!!\u00a0 The finished pieces sat on my desk, and I noticed that the cats were all taking turns sitting on them, which I took as a good sign.\u00a0 Certain yarns appeal to cats, and mine have always liked pure non-superwash wool the best.<\/p>\n<p>Bill searched high and low for the foam pieces that provide the structure.\u00a0 He finally found what we needed at Home Depot, and cut the pieces to size for me.\u00a0 As soon as I started to sew everything around the foam, I was amazed and impressed at how well everything fit together.\u00a0 Candy Clayton is a genius.\u00a0 There was immediate attention paid by Jasmine, who couldn&#8217;t wait for me to get this done.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3942\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3942\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3942\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_7543-300x247.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_7543-300x247.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_7543-600x493.jpg 600w, https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/IMG_7543.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3942\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jasmine is very interested in what I am doing! This couch is stinkin&#8217; adorable.
