Midwest!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a fantastic time at Stitches Midwest.\u00a0 The students were smart, curious and talented &#8211; enjoying classes and a fiber market that were packed with color, excitement, and adventure.\u00a0 This was my first trip to Stitches Midwest, but it definitely will not be my last&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>First, I settled into the room I shared with friend and fellow teacher, Anne Kuo Lukito.\u00a0 We got a kick out of the TV in the bathroom mirror!<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/tv-in-mirror.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-483\" alt=\"tv in mirror\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/tv-in-mirror-e1376539924161-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" breakfast, where the Chicago skyline made me regret not having the chance to run while I was there.<a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/chicago1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-485\" alt=\"chicago\" teaching experience, and enjoyed making new friends.\u00a0 Jane is an exceptional knitter, and designed this double-knit hat, using mink yarn.\u00a0 It is absolutely beautiful.<\/p>\n<figure takes a shine to intarsia, because I would love to see what she comes up with.\u00a0 She knit the gorgeous sweater she is wearing, too.\u00a0 What a woman.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_488\" There were a lot of spectacular swatches made in each class, and knitters caught on quickly. Too quickly &#8211; I may have to add content to my class plans for Stitches Midwest!\u00a0 I was too busy to take many photos, which I now regret.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Diane was still knitting while I was packing up, so I got a chance to nab a photo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_494\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-494\" style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/veronica-kelly.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-494\" alt=\"veronica and kelly\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/veronica-kelly-224x300.jpg\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-494\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Veronica Van of Dreaming in Color, Kelly King, and Anne wearing Chelsea&#8217;s Shawl<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t too busy to miss the Stitches Market, which was always abuzz.\u00a0 Lester and I met Veronica Van, from <a title=\"dream in color\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dreamincoloryarn.com\/\">Dream in color<\/a>, who helped create Chelsea&#8217;s Shawl.\u00a0 I happened to be wearing it in the market, and when Veronica saw me she introduced me to Chelsea&#8217;s mother, Kelly.\u00a0 They had a booth in the market to support Chelsea&#8217;s Light Foundation, which is working to pass legislation to keep convicted sex offenders in prison.\u00a0 It was amazing to meet these two incredible women.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I also met Sharon of <a title=\"Knitting Abacus\" href=\"http:\/\/knittingabacus.com\">KnittingAbacus<\/a>, a bundle of energy and imagination.\u00a0 I generally keep track of rows with a sheet of paper and pencil, but after trying her abacus, I&#8217;m a fan.\u00a0 It is really easy to use, and I can move a bead after each row to keep track &#8211;
