{"id":637,"date":"2013-09-16T22:56:33","date_gmt":"2013-09-16T22:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annetarsia.com\/?p=637"},"modified":"2013-09-16T22:56:47","modified_gmt":"2013-09-16T22:56:47","slug":"tapering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/2013\/09\/tapering\/","title":{"rendered":"Tapering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tapering is a term in running which refers to reducing the workload as you approach a race &#8211; to be fresh to do your best.\u00a0 It is a difficult period for most runners, because you get anxious that you will lose ground when you are not actively training.<\/p>\n<p>I am currently starting to taper for the Portland marathon, which is in 3 short weeks, so I &#8220;only&#8221; ran 16 miles this Saturday.\u00a0 Of course, then I ran 8 miles on Sunday, so I still did a pile of mileage &#8211; just over 2 days.\u00a0 I need to reduce my effort significantly, but I am tapering my &#8220;taper&#8221;.\u00a0 Right?<\/p>\n<p>As usual, I am finding parallels between my running and my knitting.\u00a0 My part of the Book is done, and other people are working hard to pull it all together.\u00a0 I am not allowed to change or add anything, but I can&#8217;t seem to stop knitting patterns from the content.\u00a0 I think this is a good sign, that I still love them, and they still work when I knit them.\u00a0 But really, I need to move on!\u00a0 I knit two Rose City hats this week, and they will be gifts to folks who contributed their time and energy to the Book, and will love the hats.\u00a0 And, since I really liked the yarn for one of them, I am going to knit one for myself.\u00a0 Then I will be DONE.\u00a0 (Yeah, right)\u00a0 If you want to see a sneak peek of &#8220;Annetarsia Knits&#8221;, check out the new e-mail sign up page, here on the website.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I am back to working on the Roseleaves tunic, which I love, immensely.\u00a0 And, I have a new project to distract me.\u00a0 Linda Cortwright sent a design for <a href=\"http:\/\/dreamingofshetland.com\/\">Dreaming of Shetland<\/a>, but she didn&#8217;t send a finished sample.\u00a0 It took awhile for us to notice this, but when we did, I volunteered to knit the project.\u00a0\u00a0 And look what they sent me to knit with!\u00a0 Today is a good day.\u00a0 This project should distract me as I try not to feel guilty for running less in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_636\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-636\" style=\"width: 3264px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/photo6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-636\" alt=\"Artyarns Cashmere 2\" src=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/photo6.jpg\" width=\"3264\" height=\"2448\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-636\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Artyarns Cashmere 2<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<dl class=\"wp-caption alignright\" id=\"attachment_636\" style=\"width: 3274px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\">Artyarns Cashmere 2<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tapering is a term in running which refers to reducing the workload as you approach a race &#8211; to be fresh to do your best.\u00a0 It is a difficult period for most runners, because you get anxious that you will lose ground when you are not actively training.
