{"id":685,"date":"2013-10-20T08:22:07","date_gmt":"2013-10-20T08:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annetarsia.com\/?p=685"},"modified":"2013-10-19T00:26:14","modified_gmt":"2013-10-19T00:26:14","slug":"potluck-yarn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/2013\/10\/potluck-yarn\/","title":{"rendered":"Potluck yarn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cheryl Potter is the founder and Master Dyer of Potluck Yarn, and the morning that I left Vermont she was getting yarn ready for the Rhinebeck Festival.\u00a0 She dyes every skein of Potluck Yarn herself, and although it is done on a massive scale, every batch is individual and special.\u00a0 Watching her work was amazing.\u00a0 In the time I took to dye ONE of my skeins, she produced hundreds of beautiful colorways.<\/p>\n<p>There were some boxes just SITTING there, filled with colorways for Spring 2014.\u00a0 Cheryl gave me permission to share a photo.\u00a0 They are stunning.<\/p>\n<p>I mentioned in the last post that my first attempt at dying reminded me of Dreaming of Shetland, which is the colorway Cheryl did as a fund-raiser for Deborah Robson.\u00a0 When I got home, I pulled out a skein and compared the two.\u00a0 They do look a lot alike.\u00a0 But, Cheryl taught me that you can&#8217;t really tell what a hand-dyed skein is really like until you unwind it to see where the colors lie.\u00a0 So, here is a photo of that, too.\u00a0 I think my subconscious was definitely at work, here!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_669\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-669\" style=\"width: 3264px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/handdyed-skein2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-669\" alt=\"Dreaming of Shetland by Potluck yarn, on top.
