{"id":930,"date":"2014-01-02T16:15:27","date_gmt":"2014-01-02T16:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annetarsia.com\/?p=930"},"modified":"2014-01-02T16:15:27","modified_gmt":"2014-01-02T16:15:27","slug":"welcome-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bartonriveryarn.com\/annetarsia\/2014\/01\/welcome-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome, 2014!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s a new year, and I couldn&#8217;t resist the <a title=\"Pi shawl KAL\" href=\"http:\/\/sheeptoshawl.com\/new-years-pi-shawl-knitalong\/\">Pi Shawl Knit-a-long<\/a>, from Stories in Stitches 2.\u00a0 I really have no business starting a new project, but one of my on-going resolutions is to always be working on some personal knitting.\u00a0 Technically, that is supposed to be Bill&#8217;s cabled sweater (I&#8217;ve almost finished the back!), but hey, the more projects the merrier, right?\u00a0 At least personal projects don&#8217;t come with deadlines&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Well, actually, this one does.\u00a0 The idea is to finish the shawl by Pi Day (March 14th), but Donna says that Pi Day is celebrated later in Europe, so there is an escape clause.\u00a0 I ordered the kit of Caper Sock from String Theory, in the Grays.\u00a0 If you want to cast on immediately, the pattern calls for 1400 yds of fingering weight yarn for the small size (my choice), or 2000 yds for the large size.\u00a0 The pattern is in <a title=\"Stories in Stitches 2\" href=\"http:\/\/storiesinstitches.net\/\">Stories in Stitches 2<\/a>, which is available NOW.<\/p>\n<p>I spent New Years&#8217; Day doing final proofreads for the Book, and things are (finally) going really quickly.\u00a0 We have to be very, very careful, because every time we &#8220;fix&#8221; something, a mistake can creep in.\u00a0 I&#8217;m trying hard not to overthink anything.\u00a0 Really, the book looks great, and people who have seen it are giving very positive feedback.\u00a0 So, we are nailing things down, double-checking all of the math, making sure schematics match the text, and getting photo credits completely accurate.
