    Donna, thank you for the wonderful article and the sock pattern! I love knitting ethnic socks and can’t wait to make these.

    As a side note, my grandmother in southern Romania used to knit socks tensioning the yarn around her neck… She passed away long before I became interested in knitting, so never quite figured out how she was knitting, until today! So thank you again, this was great and I was very happy to read that you will have a regular column in the magazine.

      Oh so cool! I want to go to Romania. Have you ever been? Do you have any photos of your grandmother knitting? I’m so glad you enjoyed the article. I am very excited about writing and designing for Knitty. I plan to do every other column with a very complex, advanced project and the others with something more accessible but still beautiful and with historical and ethnic interest.
