I can’t help it. I know I’ll get shit or saying this, and I’ll offend some of you. But I still don’t care if men knit and it irks me when male designers get so much attention. i have no personal beef with male designers, but really I think sometimes the get attention just because they are men. There are few enough areas where women have prominence. I wrote about this on my blog a few years ago: https://www.bartonriveryarn.com/charity/archives/2006/06/entry_206.html

I believe I understand your feelings on this subject. I have found male designers efforts interesting, but not more interesting than the talents of female designers. With your permission, I will pass on your remarks to Echidne of the Snakes (blogspot) as I am hoping that she will want to write about this as an example of gender bias. She is on vacation until the end of the month and I want her to deal with the topic rather than her replacements, if she decides to do so. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying your column in Knitty.
