I have finished knitting Agate Ripples. (pattern by Laura Bryant, Knitters Mag Fall 2015) Stripes are easy to knit, but it takes practice to not worry about how it is going to look when done, as you randomly select each yarn and how many rows to knit with it before changing. You also can’t bother […]

While waiting for the launch of my newest Craftsy class, Fun with Custom Colorwork (launches TOMORROW, and enter HERE to win the new class absolutely free!), I have been continuing to work on the Agate Ripples cardigan that I am making out of stash Koigu. I chose some solid and varigated skeins from really old […]
My third Craftsy class is launching on June 6th, and here are the first photos from the shoot. Of all the classes I have ever taught, this is the one closest to what I, personally, love to knit. I hesitate to give too many clues, but I am so excited about this class! While you […]
Learning new crafts is such fun, and a luxury when you have basically 2 careers and a full life. I had the chance to take a class from John Mularkey at Madrona Fiber Arts, to learn basic card weaving, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I’ll have to confess to my husband that I […]
Meeting with Craftsy instructors inspired me to take all of their classes. Eventually I hope to get there, but it will take awhile! I’m starting with Myra Woods’ class, “Modern Irish Freeform Crochet”. I have enjoyed crochet in the past, and would do more of it now if I wasn’t spending so much time knitting […]
I’ve been home for a few days, and am still thinking about the Craftsy Instructor summit. I know that I am not alone, as our on-line Instructor forum is buzzing with comments, tips, ways to organize the immense amount of information, and implement ideas from the weekend. Craftsy instructors are unique in that they are […]
Sandra took an Annetarsia class last year at Interweave Yarn Fest, and she wrote to me recently about starting a pair of socks worked ITR. I asked her to send me photos when she finished, and today – she did! They are knit with Regia from stash, and she put her own spin on the […]
I love teaching, I really do: Meeting new people, sharing what I love, taking every teaching opportunity as a chance to improve the class experience for knitters. I am very, very lucky to have the chance to participate in events as a teacher, and I appreciate it very much. BUT, teaching every session means that […]
I forgot to share about the market at VK Live Chicago, which was fun to explore. Aside from all of the beautiful yarn, needles and accessories, there was some very creative knitting being displayed. I was very inspired by all of the color, shapes and the ingenuity of knitters. I also got to meet […]
One of my favorite classes involves how to edge garments efficiently and beautifully. Knitters find zippers challenging to insert into hand-knits, but it is easy if you do it right. Generally, at least one student comes to class with a garment to use for class, and I love seeing them leave with a finished sweater!
